How To Get Through Finals

By: Mehak Dureja, SDSU Chapter Member

Thanksgiving has passed, and here approaches the most wonderful season of the year, FINALS!

Only thing getting us through this last stretch of the semester is the fact that a month long break awaits us. However, here are a few tips to help you stay sane these next few weeks:

  1. Prioritize your classes: If you are like me who vigorously calculates your grades and what you need on each exam to get the grade you want, then you know what I am talking about. You do not have to be this extra, but know which classes are more important to do well on the final in and devote your time to those!

  2. Take breaks: As overwhelming as taking a breather sounds in such a hectic time, it is definitely very important to give your body and brain the time to rest and then get back to the grind.

  3. Fuel brain with healthy snacks: It might not sound as pleasant but there are some healthy, and delicious snacks that can help get you through finals season. If you need some inspiration, here are some snacks to get you started: https://slowfoodnu.wordpress.com/2011/12/07/75-healthy-snacks-to-reach-for-during-finals/

  4. Find a technique that works best for you: Some people do better with typing out there study guides and some with flashcards, find the best study method for you and stick to it.

  5. Get a good night’s sleep: I know this will be the hardest one for anyone because when finals come around we prepare ourselves for endless allnighters and bottomless cups of coffee, but getting enough sleep can do so much more for our performance than anything else.

These are some tips to prepare you for finals week, but I know these can only help so much and you probably still feel a little overwhelmed. So here are some inspirational quotes to remind yourself that you will get through this! You got this ladies!

  1. “The harder you work for something, the greater you feel when you achieve it” -anonymous.

  2. “If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward” -Martin Luther King Jr

  3. "Don’t study because you need to. Study because knowledge is power. Study because they can never take it away from you. Study because you want to know more. Study because it enhances you. Study because it grows you.” - Anonymous
