New Year, Better Me!

I’m sure you have heard of the infamous January mantra “new year, new me.” Everyone looks forward to a new year along with all of the challenges and adventures that come with it. We expect to drastically change our lives and habits in order to reinvent ourselves. However, our high expectations and abrupt life shifts sometimes only leave us disheartened when we realize we can’t accomplish them- no wonder most yearly resolutions our thrown out after a few weeks!

The expectations of a fresh start and sudden renewal are unrealistic. We have lived a beautiful life full of mistakes, trials and success. Build from your past- instead of renewal, aim to do better and be better! A growth mindset will only enhance your experience as you progress through the year. Change is good when you form practical goals you are confident in.

In my experience, one of the best ways to get started is by making a vision board! This activity allows you to get crafty and relax while also being productive. It is a great way to visualize everything you hope to accomplish. Start by giving yourself time to brainstorm ideas and organize supplies, you can easily find inspiring pieces online and in magazines! Any sort of inspirational quotes and pictures emulating your goals are perfect to add to your board. Then, get started! Make it your own and don’t forget to have fun with it. Once you finish, place your vision board in a central area where you spend the most time. Use your board as a daily inspiration and reminder of your goals, and get excited for a great year of growth!
